VERISMO - Prologue Demo
A downloadable Prologue Demo for Windows

10 years ago, Vittoria's father was murdered by a worker in their orchard. It's now 1925, and the man makes a sudden reappearance in her life as a wealthy Don.
When she meets a wayward carnival performer who also has a bone to pick with the Don, the two scheme to teach him a lesson, at a deadly price.

- Exploration-rich maps inspired by real locations in Sicily
- Several hand-drawn illustrations and cutscenes
- A 15 minute playtime for this initial demo version

Inspired by the verismo (realism) operas of the early 1900s.
Controls:
Z/Space - Interact
Arrow Keys/WASD - Move
Esc - Menu
F4 - Fullscreen toggle

Known Issues:
- Game may experience sprite flickering and slightly lower framerate on lower-end computers. This will be heavily reworked moving forward with optimization.
This will be the first public build I've ever uploaded for a game project. If you run into any bugs, please report them below or on Verismo's Steam discussions page, it's greatly appreciated.
If you enjoyed the demo, wishlist on Steam to support the game!

Oh I love this!! The art is beautiful and I can't wait to see more <3 can I ask if you have an estimated release date?
Thank you for saying so! It really motivates me to hear it. No release date I can set yet, but the final demo (about an hour of content) will release sometime in the next few months!
Great Demo! Love the artwork and respect the effort that was put into the game! Can't wait to see more of this narrative and more games like it.
Thank you for saying so, it'll keep me going through the slog🥲
HII I love your game so far and Im inspired to make a game because of it, I was wondering which RPG maker did you use :0
Wow, this just made my day, that's awesome!! I'm using rpgmaker mz
Thank you so much mwa mwa love your game i cant wait for full release
Just played this, and I am HOOKED. Gorgeous game, and I'm super excited to see where it goes! I've wishlisted on steam as well!
Thank you so so much! It's so encouraging to see your comment before I start my weekend work on the game lol. I'm planning on the full demo to release this year, which will actually promise on the whole knife-wielding clown, carnival, interesting character dynamic side lol
Of course! I hope this isn't rude, but one eensy weensy critique I have is that when you're walking around, the vignette flicker at the edges of the screen (I assume meant to reflect the feeling of a projector) are really strong, and sometimes draw the eye away from the main screen (especially if everything is static). Beyond that, it gives me a little bit of motion sickness- weirdly enough. I was wondering if you'd have an option to lessen that in the full demo? Obviously, this is extremely subjective and has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of content in your game, which is all top tier.
This is really wonderful critique, I have it somewhere on my list to fix the frame overlay I have but I hadn't considered it's a bit too much (this is because I'm staring at this thing every damn day lol). Rest assured I'm going to tone it way down and probably have an extra frame or 2 to break up that jittery feeling. Thank you for telling me, I'm eager and anxious for any feedback!
Hi, I'm a developer, I'm interested in your horror game, if you find it interesting I can be part of the project and help, I wouldn't charge anything, I found it very promising, and I'm becoming more and more interested in this dark style, sorry for my English
thank you for reaching out! I don’t need any help at this time but it’s very kind of you to offer it! I wish you the best of luck with your works 🙂
The artwork is truly beautiful; it seems like a very promising project.
Thank you so much for trying it out!! The video made my day, you're one of the first to do so, so it means a lot. Hope you stick around for the demo demo and full release!
